Afrika Esports Series, the first continental professional esports event of the kind, has opened up its portal for registration of participants in the first-ever pan-Africa eSport championship slated for later this year.
In a live-streamed launch, one of the organisers, Emmanuel Oyelakin, said one of the aims of the league is to set the industry standard and help to develop the continent’s esports ecosystem. “The goal of the competition is to provide equal opportunities for people around the world, with no regard to their demographics, location or financial position.”He had said.
The championship will have participation from 16 African countries: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Ghana, Republic of Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Mauritius, Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa and Togo.

Afrika Esports Series is organized by the leading global esports institution World Esport Consortium (WeSCO) and the African creative community developing continental gaming ecosystem – Enter Africa.
